What variables or merge tags can I add to my configurable notification emails?

Merge tags (variable fields) take specific information from your database and add it as dynamic content to your customizable notifications. What does this mean? For example, if you want to address your notification to the person receiving it, you can simply enter {user_first_name} and each notification will automatically populate this field.

Where should I use merge tags?

Each time a notification is sent with a merge tag, the most recent data will be pulled from your database. Merge tags can be added to most notification emails but not all will be relevant to the notification being sent. For example, if you add the {event_name} tag to the "New Member Join" email, the database will not know what information it should pull and will instead leave the {event_name} as default text.
