Inviting members from your existing membership management system to SilkStart is a simple process.
Take these steps when you are ready for your members to start using SilkStart. Once complete, your members will be up and running in your SilkStart system. We recommend testing and approving your system in advance of completing these steps. If you aren't sure whether you're ready to launch, reach out to your SilkStart Account Manager for guidance.
How to launch your site:
- Contact your members using whatever method you normally use. Tell them that you are about to launch a new member management system, and to look for an invitation to set up their profiles arriving in their inboxes soon.
- Set up the Launch email. From your SilkStart admin panel, click on Dashboard > Setup Invite. Draft a message from your organization welcoming members to the new SilkStart system. Save your custom message.
- When you are sure you're ready, click on Launch. This will send the Invite message to all users in your database who have not previously logged in to SilkStart.
- For more detailed instructions on setting up the Launch Email, view this FAQ.
What happens when you launch:
When you send the launch email, every user in your database who has not already logged into their account will be sent a message welcoming them to SilkStart. Each email contains a unique, one-time link that the user can use to automatically log into their account. They are immediately asked to set their password, which is how they will log into their account in future. They are then brought through the setup process to complete or update their profile.
Why send another email before you launch:
In order to increase the number of members who use the launch email to set up their profiles, we strongly recommend sending members a 'heads-up' email before you launch, using whatever communication tool you normally use to contact members.
Often, when a user receives an unexpected email that directs them to click a link, they will assume it is a spam or phishing message. Letting your members know that this is a legitimate email and that it's okay to click the link will make members feel more comfortable about clicking on the link to set up their profiles.
