SilkStart allows you to maintain versions of your webpages. This feature allows you to work on changes you wish to publish in the future, and to return to versions that you had saved in the past.
Saving a page
Saving a page in SilkStart adds that version of your page - including the template, content, images, links, widgets, etc. - to the list of versions of your page that are stored in your SilkStart database.
Saving a page does not automatically make that page visible to the public. This allows you to work on changes progressively and save your work, without revealing the finished product to the public until you are ready to do so.
Saving a page does not automatically make your changes public.
Publishing a page
Publishing a page in SilkStart replaces the version of the page that is currently live on your SilkStart website with another version. This method is used to make changes public.
You can publish any saved version of a page at any time. This allows you to revert a page back to an older version without losing any work. It also allows you to keep a new version of your page private until a later time. Only the published version of a page is the one visible on your site.
Save Changes or Save and Publish?
After you've made changes to a page on your SilkStart site you will be presented with options to either Save, or to Save and Publish.
The Save Changes button will only store a new version of your site in the list of versions.
The Save and Publish button will both save your work and immediately make it live on your site.
