Create private or hidden events using the SilkStart Event Calendar. Only the creator will be able to see the event in the calendar or event listing widget. The event can be accessed through the URL but will not be found in the calendar. This is a useful way to make a draft event that you are not ready to publish.
How to create a hidden event
- Log into your admin panel.
- Click on Manage > Events, and then on Create a New Event.
- Set up your event as normal.
- At the bottom of the page, click on the + sign next to 'Advanced Options' to reveal additional event options.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page, and tick the box next to 'Hide from Calendar'.
The event you created will be created as normal, but will not be visible from your event calendar or from the event widgets.
Note: Hiding an event calendar does not prevent any types of members from registering. Hidden events use the same restrictions as normal events to determine if a person can register, and what type(s) of tickets they can purchase.
How to access a hidden event
Hidden events can be accessed by knowing and sharing the link for the event page. To find the link for your event:
- Log into your admin panel.
- Click on Manage > Events.
- The list of events includes all hidden and visible events. Find your event, and click on its name to open the event page in a new window.
- Copy the URL of the event page, and share this with anyone who you want to be able to access this page.
- Other admins in your association can also find the event through the admin panel.

It should be noted that if you are an administrator none of the events get hidden even though the selection is checked. So to test the hidden option make sure to change to a different browser or log out of the system to check.
