When sending an email campaign to your members, it's possible that it will show up as "clipped" in their inboxes.
Why does this happen?
Gmail will clip emails that have a message size larger than 102k, and the message size is determined by the underlying code that makes up the body of the email. This includes your text, the full URLs and tracking code of any links, and the HTML used to style your content.
What causes this and how can I prevent it?
- Content was pasted into the email from another program (Microsoft Word, etc)
A common cause is formatting markup (ie. text styling) that although not visible to the recipient, will increase the size of your message. Additional markup usually appears if the text has been copied and pasted from another source like Microsoft Word. When creating an email, we suggest pasting the content as plain text and formatting from within SilkStart. You can use the "Paste as Plain Text", or "Paste From Word" icons in the editing bar to help with this. - There is a lot of content
If the above option doesn't appear to be the cause of the clipped message, it's likely that your email simply has a lot of content, which you may consider condensing. You may choose to utilize "Read More" buttons or links to reduce the amount of content within the email itself. - Multiple test emails were sent with the same subject line
If you receive multiple emails with the same subject line, Gmail may combine these messages in your inbox to make one thread. If you repeatedly send a test email for the same campaign, the thread could become too large in your inbox and be clipped. Try deleting the previous emails in your inbox and changing the subject line to reduce the risk of clipping. Note that your members wouldn't be affected in this way because they are only receiving the content once.
